ASSP Meeting Features ‘Stop the Bleed Community Training’
The Space Coast Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals (ASSP) (formerly the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE)) June Meeting will be held Friday, June 8th 11:30 registration and order lunch, 12-1pm meeting at the Holiday Inn Melbourne-Viera, 8298 N. Wickham Rd. This meeting will include the ‘Stop the Bleed Community Training Course’ presented by Health-First. Designed to prepare bystanders to respond to life threatening bleeding events, the course is quick and informative. Certificates of completion will be provided. There is no cost for the meeting. Lunch may be ordered off the menu, on your own. Please register for the event using the society’s web page.
NSCFL June Luncheon –President, Space Florida “How Shall We Grow”
The National Space Club Florida Committee June Luncheon features guest speaker Frank DiBello
President, Space Florida speaking on “How Shall We Grow?” The event is Tuesday, June 12, 11:30am-1:00pm at the Radisson Resort at the Port –Pavilion. Registration is required at www.nscfl.org.
NASA Alumni League (NAL) Meeting for June, 2018 to Feature KSC Center Director
The NASA Alumni League (NAL), FL Chapter, will hold its June, 2018 meeting at 11:00 am, June 19th at the Debus Center, KSC Visitor Complex. After a 45 minute social and a buffet lunch, Robert Cabana, KSC Center Director, will update us on progress at the Space Center. North Florida AACE Summer Schedule
The North Florida Section of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACE) regular program year for meetings and technical presentations is from September through May, with a break during the summer months of June through August. Exemplary Science Teacher Award Recognition Ceremony Coming to FSEC in August
The Exemplary Science Teacher Awards program was started in 1999 by the SCSEA and the Brevard Science Advisory Council to recognize outstanding science teachers in Brevard County. Annually, SCSEA holds a recognition ceremony to honor science teachers from Brevard County who demonstrate best practices in the area of science instruction. It is our way of saying thank you for a job well done. As a community, we send a strong message when we identify and reward those great teachers that educate our children. This year’s event will be held on August 7, 2018 at the Florida Solar Energy Center, 1679 Clearlake Rd, Cocoa, FL.
Research Rules! Event Helps with Science Fair Preparation
Research Rules! invites students, parents, and teachers to learn what it takes to do a successful and award winning Science Fair Project. Students can meet with scientists in their subject areas, as well as experts in creating a great experiment and backboard to help put together an awesome project. This day of fun and information is open to Brevard County students in grades 5-8 and it’s free! This year Research Rules! will be held on September 22, 2018 at the BPS Educational Services Facility, 2700 Judge Fran Jamieson Way, Viera, FL.

The Florida Renewable Energy Association is the Florida Chapter of the American Solar Energy Society (ASES). ASES is a nationwide non-profit organiation to promote, research, and education solar/renewable energy for a sustainable future. Three Day Session for CYB-1 Aviation Cybersecurity Management, October 9-11 at the ERAU Daytona Beach Campus
2.4 Continuing Education Units. $1500, $100 discount if registered prior to 8/29/18. Targeted to managerial rather than technical people. Anyone in the management role in the aviation or aerospace industry, including airlines, airports, cargo lines, commercial space operators, aviation equipment or airframe manufacturers or vendors, communication providers, etc.
Develop an awareness of threats and vulnerabilities to airports, aircraft and supporting systems. Develop an understanding of the appropriate questions to ask in regards to the information security aspects of aviation and airport-based systems. Develop a context of recent cyber incidents, threats, vulnerabilities, and exploits. Prepare a methodology to analyze your own organization’s cybersecurity vulnerabilities and preparing mitigation steps.

The Space Coast Campus located at 4450 W Eau Gallie, Melbourne, FL. ERAU offers undergraduate and graduate aviation and aerospace programs at this location, or via the internet using Eagle Vision meeting one day per week in the 9 week Term session. The ERAU Online format requires assignments submitted weekly, convenient for busy working adults. There are 5 terms per year. Workshop for Global Sustainability in October 2018
Members of CCTS Member Societies are encouraged to register for the inaugural Workshop for Global Sustainability, held from October 23 to 26, 2018, in the Research Triangle Region of North Carolina. Participation is anticipated from International and US Government Agencies, Commercial Companies and Academia (students and faculty). Visionaries and leaders have opportunities to present and collaborate on sustainability-focused efforts.
