ASSE April Meeting Features Jacksonville OSHA Area Director
The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASEE) Space Coast Chapter April Meeting will be held Friday, April 6th (11:30 registration, 12-1pm meeting). Guest Speaker is Jacksonville Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) Area Director, Brian Sturtecky, who will discuss what is new and upcoming with OSHA including mandatory electronic submission of injury and illness reports. This meeting is free and open to the business community. The event is held at the Red Lobster Daytona Beach, 2625 W. International Speedway Blvd., Daytona Beach, Florida, 32114. ASHRAE/ASME Joint Technical Seminar: Air-to-Air Energy Recovery Devices
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE), Space Coast Chapter is hosting a joint Technical Seminar with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), Canaveral Section on Tuesday, April 10, 11:30 am at Tuscany Grill (7640 N Wickham Rd, Melbourne, FL 32940). The Chapter will host Clifford Holcomb who will present the topic, “Air-to-Air Energy Recovery Devices.” Sponsored by Core, the seminar is worth 1 FBPE PDH. Members of US Green Building Council (USGBC) Florida Chapter/Central Florida Region are welcome to join us. The cost for the seminar is $20, which includes lunch and the presentation. North Florida AACE Presents: Investing from a Cost Engineering Perspective, Part 2
The North Florida Section of the Association for the Advancement of Cost Engineering International (AACE) April meeting will feature ‘Investing from a Cost Engineering Perspective, Part 2,’ with speaker F. Sam Griggs, CCP, FAACE. The meeting will be held Tuesday, April 10th, 2018, 6:30 p.m. at PMA Consultants, 4901 Vineland Road, Suite 330, Orlando, FL 32811. Meeting is free. CCTS Executive Board Meeting
Our next Canaveral Council of Technical Societies (CCTS) Executive Board will be on Wednesday, April 11, 6:00 p.m. at the CCTS Board Room, located at our Cape Royal Office Building location (1980 N. Atlantic Ave., Suite 401, Cocoa Beach, FL 32931). All CCTS member societies are encouraged to provide representation. Teleconferencing is available.
AIAA Spring Banquet Features Apollo Astronaut Charlie Duke
The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), Cape Canaveral Section Spring Banquet features retired US Air Force Brigadier General Charlie Duke, who served as lunar module pilot on the Apollo 16 mission. The event will be held Friday, April 13, with social hour (cash bar) from 5:30-6:30PM, followed by dinner and the speaker. Cost is $45 for AIAA members, $55 for nonmembers and $35 for students. The National Space Club Florida Committee will honor this year’s Dr. Kurt H. Debus Award winner, Larry Ostarly, Senior VP of Operations, AECOM. NASA Alumni League Meeting for April Features Presentation by KSC Director of Safety and Mission Assurance
The NASA Alumni League (NAL), Florida Chapter, will hold its April, 2018 meeting, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, April 17th at the Debus Center, KSC Visitor Complex, Kennedy Space Center, FL. Following a 45 minute social, we will have a buffet lunch prepared by the Delaware North chefs, after which we will be treated to a presentation by Russ Deloach, current Director of Safety and Mission Assurance at KSC. Priority for reservations will be for members and their guests, with each member limited to no more than four in their party. Members of CCTS Member Societies are encouraged to register for the inaugural Workshop for Global Sustainability, held from October 23 to 26, 2018, in the Research Triangle Region of North Carolina. Participation is anticipated from International and US Government Agencies, Commercial Companies and Academia (students and faculty). Visionaries and leaders have opportunities to present and collaborate on sustainability-focused efforts.
